Work with a team who specializes in protecting the Alvin, TX community from the harsh coastal hurricanes. Bentley Windstorm Engineering is an engineering firm that designs, inspects and modifies new home, addition, or renovation project plans as well as existing homes and properties. Not many people understand the importance of meeting the structural specifications of the area, which is why we’re here to educate each of our customers, so they’re protected.
Even if you have no plans for a project, it’s still vital for your existing property to adhere to the codes of the area for safety and insurability. That’s why we will provide a complete evaluation of your project then work to ensure the construction meets the regulations during the process. Once completed, Bentley Windstorm Engineering provides confirmation to the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) that the project was built to windstorm specifications and should be awarded a WPI-8 (the Certificate necessary for insurance).
What is a WPI-8 and why do I need one?
A WPI-8 is a building code certificate of compliance that is issued by the Texas Department of Insurance. It certifies that a structure has been erected, altered and/or repaired in accordance with building construction requirements for windstorm coverage in the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA), as outlined in Section 6A, Article 21.49 of the Texas Insurance Code. When a policyholder receives the WPI-8 certificate, they should send it to their agent or to TWIA to verify that their home or business has been built or repaired properly and is therefore “insurable” with TWIA.
